This book contains the reminiscences of a former Confederate lieutenant who enlisted in Company C of the 18th Mississippi at the tender age of sixteen years and fought in nearly every major battle of the War Between the States. He provides detailed accounts of operations in north Mississippi and west Tennessee, and his recollection of cavalry service under General Nathan Bedford Forrest is of special interest.
